Despite lots of Hype and pretty graphics, this is still a typical Korean MMO. Grindfest, poor translation, shallow quests... On top of that, it is from COG, which means they have an in-game store where you can buy things with real $$$. Lame.

First - Character creation. I do not want to be limited to three AT per race.
Second - Character creation. I would like to be able to select the gender for the Race/AT combination.
Third - Get your translations correct. This includes tense and plurals. Just one person who actually speaks english would be great.
Fourth - I would like to do something besides autohit for the first N levels. I understand things have a cost, and you need to work up to them, but come on, a drop is between 8-11 gold and most things for lowbies start at over 500? And anything worth anything is around 5K?
Fifth - instant open drops - FFS, give me more than 0.1 seconds to grab the tiny bits of loot that do fall. If you are in the newbie zone, and get an add, you do not have time to loot while killing the second/third mob. So someone runs in and grabs your healing potion or 8 gold. Nice.
Sixth - Oh, screw it, I just don't care. Uninstalled, installer deleted, disk defragged.

I am looking forward to Warhammer, Vanguard, and Spellborn. Maybe one of those will not suck. Stranger things have happened.

E&B Ripoff

Danger Will Robinson, this is a Korean MMO.

That being said, if you liked E&B, you will love think this is an annoying rip-off. It is a twitch "spaceship" game, although the first several area's have you cruising at atmo level. Not sure if you ever get into space or not. The graphics are passable, for say 1998. Or, um, perhaps earlier. Like 1994. Not sure, my memory is a little hazy, but I seem to recall Wing Commander graphics being better.

Like E&B, you can get out of your ship between missions, run around, buy, trade, put stuff in your warehouse (costs creds). I have not yet found where I can sell my mission loot. There are four ships available and around 8 avatars, so on the ground, it looks a little like occupied Caprica.

It is a 1GB download, so it may take a while. It is free, although it appears you can spend real money on in game items through the store, which I attempted to visit (just to see, I am not actually willing to spend money on this), but the security certificate was rejected by Firefox.

If you want to try a free "space" shooter, go for it, but prepared to be underwhelmed.

Going to see if it gets any better now that I am getting used to the controls.

Ok, another beta. Another bad korean mmo. Yes, like Lineage 2 with shades of WoW. I think they used the same base code as RF Online and possibly the original Lineage. Standard unmodifiable GUI. Better word wrap though (it actually does it). 800x600 fixed resolution. Don't those Korean's have decent monitors? Same crappy unchangable font. Few character models per gender (3-4 faces, 3-4 hair, 3 clothing color sets). As usual, everyone starts the same (oh, wait, in this game you can assign 5 stat points between 3 stats). Totally strange Nav/Camera system. Move by mouse, and the normal movement keys (wasd) are camera control. Different take on the action bar. You can load 1-8 with skills. Instead of activating when you hit a number, that skill becomes your active skill. You use the active skill with your right mouse button. So not a whole lot of specials. And lots of clicking. You start with Ranged, Close, Black Magic, Light (or white) magic. White magic isn't what you think, it is a weaker version of the black magic spell (think air bolt as opposed to fire bolt). Somewhat decent magic effects, although you will be bored of them in about 3 minutes. You skill up by using that skill repeatedly. Want to focus on Black Magic? Kill everything using that. But get your loot immediately, as there is zero control of the loot. Once the critter is killed, the loot is on the ground, and it is open to everybody. It claims Ranged and Close (Bow and Sword) are autofire, but I found that does not work all of the time (remember the lots of clicking comment?). Beta, neh? Also, as it is still beta, CtD fun. Nice that it leaves the PC in 800x600 mode when it dies (OMG icons HUGE). Result: 1 hour, uninstalled. Now back to waiting for the WoW patch.

OMG. Think Lineage 2 in space. Well, sort of in space, but not so much. Sci-Fi themed, but planet bound on 1 of 4 planets (you travel in space, but you do not actually do anything in space) sort of like the first generation of SWG.

Ok, so if Lineage 2 isn't enough to make you turn away, I tried the 10-day free trial and uninstalled it the first day. Graphics are mediocre (think original AO level). Screen size is not adjustable. Normal translation issues and piss-poor word wrapping in chat. Font size is not adjustable. The tutorial teaches you to move, move the camera, equip and shoot, but none of the practical things as in how to interact with vendors, join parties, etc.

It has been out of beta for a few months, I expected it to be a bit more polished than somethings I have seen in beta, but alas, I was sorely mistaken. The graphics are twitchy when running up and down stairs. Come on. And somewhere I missed the is autofire on or not? And since it was not on, how can I tell how often I should click to shoot the thing? How about mining? Could I get some feedback that something is happening? I see the startup animation, but then it is another 30s of sitting there with standard animation before you see if something is happening (e.g. a rock shows up in inventory).

I will say this for the Korean export - At least you can start in 4 different classes with different skills, and do not have to wait 10-20 levels before you actually do something different than everyone else around you.

One last bit, every game should learn from both SWG and CoX when it come to character design - more clothes, more options, more tweaks = better. Even WoW could use some help here.

Next up, Deicide. This looks like Lineage 2 meets WoW. Should be good for a laugh. I'll post on that should I get on the freebie bit.
